19/10/2020 Kadriorg Palace - the pearl of Tallinn

Few European capitals can boast such an architectural and landscape "pearl" as Kadriorg (or Ekaterinental) — a Baroque Palace and Park ensemble in Tallinn. The name of Ekaterinenthal (from it. Katharinas Tal — Katherine's valley or Kadriorg — from the est. Kadri valley) received in honor of the wife of Peter I — Catherine. It was the Emperor who in 1718 began the construction of the Palace and the amazing flower garden here. Visiting Kadriorg is like being transported back a couple of centuries: there is a Palace on a hill, two pavilions on the edges. The Park has ponds, fountains with gazebos, fancy flower beds and a rose garden, and walking alleys are laid out from the Palace. And on the island in the middle of the Swan pond in the summer it is so picturesque that the townspeople regularly arrange open-air concerts here.

Happy birthday, DIMEX-Tallinn!
