The modern metallurgical capital of Russia, Magnitogorsk, like many Russian industrial cities, began with the small village of Magnitnaya, founded near iron mines and a fortress in the middle of the XVIII century. The Ural workers ' settlement is also mentioned in documents about the Emelyan Pugachev uprising. But Magnitogorsk grew most actively during the socialist industrialization and during the second world war: many enterprises were evacuated here from the occupied territories, where steel became tanks, bombs, shells, and ammunition. And the post-war development of Magnitogorsk was associated with metallurgy, today the flagship of the industry - Magnitogorsk iron and steel works here. Thanks to its products, the city is known all over the world, and many tourists begin their acquaintance with it from the plant, where an interesting Museum of the company's history is organized, and thematic tours of the workshops are held. If necessary, be sure to take a tour of the blast furnace shop - the largest in Russia! Even tourists who have seen a lot say that the sight of hot metal pouring from the blast furnace can not be compared with anything!
