02/11/2020 At the Vologda lace Museum
The famous Vologda lace is one of the symbols of this region, along with Vologda oil and carved Palisades. The townspeople are so proud of this folk craft that they have created a whole Museum dedicated to the art of lace-making. The only Museum of this type in Russia is located in an old estate of the XIX century, on the Kremlin square of the city, where eight Museum halls contain a unique exhibition and carefully preserve the history of this original folk art. Museum employees also keep interesting information about the history of the famous centers of European lace-making in Germany, France, Spain, and Poland. you should definitely visit the exhibition about lace in peasant costume of the XIX century. The Museum has several studios where the secrets of art are passed on to the next generation.
