Smolensk is older than such ancient cities as Moscow, Vladimir, Suzdal and Pskov. The first mention of it in the chronicle dates back to 863. Tourists in Smolensk do not have to be bored. There are many architectural monuments, museums, theaters, temples and other noteworthy sights in the city and its surroundings, most of which are located in the Industrial and Leninsky districts. This ancient burial place appeared on the Great Way "from the Varangians to the Greeks".
